    What goes on a work order

    A work order identifies the customer and job site, describes the scope of work, names who is assigned, sets priority and timing, and lists tasks with estimated hours or cost.

    Work order vs invoice

    A work order authorises and describes the job before it starts. After completion you send an invoice, usually quoting the work order number.

    Sign-off

    A customer signature on completion confirms the work was done and helps resolve disputes. Record any approved changes on the order.
