    Tax invoice basics in NZ

    Inland Revenue calls this 'taxable supply information' and does not prescribe fixed wording. For sales of $200 or less it needs the supplier's name, the date, a description and the amount paid. Above $200 add the supplier's GST number and the GST-exclusive, GST and GST-inclusive amounts (or the GST-inclusive total with a statement that GST is included). Above $1,000 also add the buyer's name and at least one identifier, such as an address or NZBN. Thresholds change, so check with Inland Revenue.

    Zero-rated supplies

    Exports and certain other supplies are zero-rated for GST. Set the rate to 0 on those lines.
